About Our Club
The Mini Muslim Club is exactly what it says on the tin! It's a children's Saturday club set up exclusively for young Muslim boys and girls to learn about their deen. Starting at the age of six, they stay with us and graduate from our club as teenagers.
The club aims to spread authentic Islamic teaching to children in a fun and interactive manner. Our aim is to help children develop a deep love and understanding for the beautiful religion of Islam.
Children are taught in the English language from British trained teachers in a manner that helps them feel happy and comfortable with being practicing Muslims. They are not taught a fear-based version of Islam; instead a delicate and nuanced approach is taken.
Our Teaching Approach
We use various interactive teaching methods to engage young minds:
Creative projects that reinforce Islamic concepts through hands-on activities.
Educational games that make learning about Islam enjoyable and memorable.
Bringing Islamic stories and concepts to life through performance.
Guest speakers and unique learning experiences throughout the year.
Our Syllabus
We cover the essential Islamic sciences with age-appropriate content:
Correct Islamic belief and understanding of Allah and His attributes.
Basic rules of worship including purification, prayer, and halal/haram.
Proper recitation of the Quran with correct pronunciation.
Life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his companions.
Islamic manners, etiquette, and moral character development.
Practical prayer education with understanding and love.
We created our syllabus under the careful guidance of UK and Turkey's learned scholars and students of Islamic knowledge. Each topic is carefully checked before being taught to ensure authenticity.
Our Staff
Some of The Oxford Academy's experienced staff teach at the Mini Muslim Club, bringing their expertise and passion to our young learners.
Our teaching approach at the Mini Muslim Club is gentle, kind and compassionate. We create a joyful learning environment where children feel happy because there is no pressure or stress placed on them.
Important: All our staff teach in English so children must be fluent in English speaking and comprehension before we accept their application.
Levels and ages of the students: The age range of students is ages 6-14, starting at level 1 and finishing at level 4.
Our Students
Our students come from varying backgroundsβ ethnicities and abilities. We are very pleased that the club caters for so many different expectations and needs. Our students love coming and we love teaching themβ alhumdulillah! The level of knowledge of our students varies hugely between children: some begin with no knowledge of Islam and others are miniature scholars in the making! Everyone is welcome. Parents of the clubβs students testify to the benefit that the club spreads to children from all levels and backgrounds. There have never been any issues with any of the topics taught as we try to keep our syllabus and lesson content as non-controversial as possible. We do not encourage sectarianism. The only thing we do check is that they are fluent in English. We only teach in English and so students must be proficient in this. None of our staff will teach in Urdu. Most of our children are children of ex-pats so they communicate with each other in English too. We conduct a mini interview before we take on new students, this is so we can understand the childβs background.

Ages 6-7
Focus on Aqidah (Muslim Belief) and Salah. Children learn words of Salah with Tajweed through our special Salah Book with reward stickers.

Ages 10-11

Ages 12-14+
Philosophical questions, discussions about modern challenges, and presenting Islam confidently in secular settings.
Level One: Mini Muslims
Level One children are called βMini Muslimsβ.
The age of children in this level is 6-7. Parents applying for children above this age will need to get in touch with us to discuss.
All children enter at level one, and progress from there to the other levels. None of the levels can be skipped.
Level One is centred around the study of Aqidah (Muslim Belief) and Salah.
From a tiny age our students will begin to start learning the words of Salah with Tajweed and actions. They have a cute Salah Book made especially for them which they memorise throughout the year, they get a star sticker in their books every time they learn a line and our Salah Team celebrate this further by giving them presents.
We do not want children to feel stressed or anxious when learning about Islam, so our teaching methods are always gentle, and reward based.
Students stay in level one for two years usually (Level 1, cycle 1 and then Level 1, cycle 2 in which they consolidate what they learnt in cycle 1).
Level Two: Muslim Stars
Level Two children are called βMuslim Starsβ.
The children will learn Seerah which is the life of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). They will also study the basic rules of worship (Fiqh) and continue learning Salah from their salah book.
The children cover all the major events in Seerah in a very interactive manner using unique and creative resources.
Bringing Seerah to life in such a manner brings much joy to the hearts of children and teachers alike and helps the children retain the significance of such events.
The age of children in this level is 8-9. The students typically spend one year in this level only.
Level Three: Muslim Lights
Level Three children are called βMuslim Lightsβ.
They continue learning about Salah (prayer) and Seerah & then move onto studying Hadith, lives of the Sahaba and are introduced to Contemporary Issues such as Islam and Science.
The age of students in this level is typically 10-11 and takes one year to complete.
Level Four: Muslim Thinkers

This final level in our programme is designed to help the students present religious world views within secular settings.
It teaches them to be confident, academic, and thoughtful in how they approach and present religiosity.
Increasingly our children are exposed to secular worldviews especially through social media so itβs important they get to explore the discussions they are hearing in a safe space and with teachers who have undergone rigorous training on how to teach these topics.
Our teachers have been trained by the fantastic Basira Education Programme, an internationally renowned institute that is leading conversations about Atheism and Islam: Basira Education
The students will be taught the importance of good akhlaaq when debating people as we donβt want to reinforce the stereotype of an angry religious person. Gentle but confident is our motto, InshaAllah!
This level also covers some key philosophical debates (made child-friendly through a book made especially for our students). This enables them to further speak confidently about Islam and the purpose of life.
Graduation Ceremony
Our end-of-year graduation ceremony is a time to come and celebrate the students' accomplishments! This special family event will see the children move from one level to the next or graduate from level four - it will make your hearts melt π
Continuing learning after graduation
The club offers a basis for children to develop their learning beyond the absolute essentials of Islam. However, it in no way claims to offer a complete Islamic education. We would like all the children to continue the beautiful journey of learning about Islam after they graduate from the Mini Muslim Club.
One way of doing this is to join our Islamic courses for adults here at The Oxford Academy.
